Actually, I (Hannah) have been in Pennsylvania for the last week, so I guess I should be saying something more like "news from the east" or "the past week in the east", but oh well. = )
I am out here waiting for the arrival of a new cousin, whom I am very excited to meet. While I am waiting I have been staying with my great Aunt Marnie, Abba and Ima (who are out here for the new baby) which has been wonderful! I have enjoyed quality time, lots of sleep and some great sightseeing. Here are some pictures from Marnie's...
And some highlights...
We spent one of the our days at Longwood Gardens which is an absolutely beautiful place to visit. You can click here for more information. I really enjoyed wandering around and seeing all sorts of plants and flowers and of course taking lots of pictures. = D The weather was perfect, not to hot and muggy.
After Longwood Gardens we went to spend the evening with some of our extended family. Many of them I have not seen for a long time, so it was great to get reacquainted and spend some time with them. Here are a couple of group shots from our evening.
A family that is very close to Marnie came over for dinner and a visit a couple nights ago. I had been wanting to meet them, so it was great to get to know them a little bit and also spend some time with their kids, who are adorable! The kids came over for a while this afternoon too which was lots of fun.
We also visited a really cool place called Fonthill. For more information click here. The home, tile works and museum were all built out of concrete by a man named Henry Mercer. Imbedded throughout the buildings, in the concrete, there is beautiful tile. The structures are really amazing especially considering that there were no blue print and no machinery used during most of the building process. The home has 40+ rooms, lots of staircases and is very castle like. The museum was amazing! It is Henry Mercer's personal collection of artifacts that he acquired over the course of his life. If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend it! No pictures though. = (
We have a trip down into Philadelphia planned tomorrow before Abba, Ima and I head up to Connecticut (where my aunt, uncle, cousin and soon to arrive cousin live). I'm sure I will have more pictures to post soon. = ) I will be posting more of my nature photography on my other blog, Through The Lens Of Grace. If you are interested in seeing them you can go here. They should be up within the next couple of days.
